Wasek Faisal

Dr Wasek Faisal completed his basic physician training between UK and Australia. He subsequently completed his specialist training in Medical Oncology, rotating through large tertiary and regional centres in NSW, including Royal North Shore Hospital, Central Coast Cancer Centre and North Coast Cancer Institute. He has also completed a research fellowship leading to a higher degree in Tumour Immunology from University of Nottingham, UK.

Wasek is enthusiastic about undergraduate teaching and holds conjoint appointment with the University of Newcastle. He is also member of several collaborative research groups including ALTG, AGITG and multiple international oncology professional organisations including ASCO, ESMO & IASLC.

Wasek's principal area of interest is lung & GI cancers and supportive care. He is the current clinical lead for the respiratory tumour stream at the BRICC. Wasek is actively involved in phase II/III clinical trials and is principal investigator for several lung cancer clinical trials looking into immune checkpoint inhibitors.
