An important service for you within BRICC is the appointment with a Doctor who specialises in cancer care.
As a patient, you will be referred to the "BRICC specialist clinic", where a doctor trained in delivering chemotherapy (drug treatment), radiation therapy or haematology will assess your needs.
Within the specialist consultation, as a patient, you will be given information about the best approach to your care in terms of treatment needs and options, and also other services within BRICC that may assist you such as allied health, complementary therapy, accommodation or transport needs.
Patients are referred to BRICC specialist clinics by GPs, specialists and other community-based healthcare providers, as well as clinicians in inpatient units and other areas of the hospital.
You may be seen in a specialist clinic as either a first time presentation or as follow-up to care already provided.
