Lymphoedema Therapy

Lymphoedema Therapy

Lymphoedema occurs when the lymphatic system (which is responsible for draining fluid from tissues) does not work as it should.

Some cancer treatments, such as surgery or radiotherapy, may damage the lymphatic system leading to swelling of one or more parts of the body.

This may cause discomfort, impact on function and reduce quality of life. Lymphoedema therapists assist you to manage your Lymphoedema through education, massage, exercises and compression therapy.

Once every two months a Lymphoedema Physiotherapist leads a group session titled "At Risk of Lymphoedema" as part of the Wellness Centre's Calendar of events. Come along and learn more about lymphoedema and what you can do to reduce your risk of developing lymphoedema.

Please speak to your treating physician or nurse for a referral.
