Gay Corbett

Prostate Specialist Cancer Nurse

Gay Corbett commenced her nursing training at Ballarat Base Hospital in 1981. Gay has an extensive 35 year nursing background within a variety of clinical settings throughout Australia with a particular focus on acute medical, urology and gynae nursing care. Gay returned to Ballarat in 1993.

Gay is a passionate supporter of education and qualified as a Primary school teacher in 2007. She combined her nursing and education qualifications to work as a nurse educator and coordinator of the enrolled nurse traineeship program in collaboration with Federation University and the Ballarat Health Services Education unit for 6 years. During that time she worked casually at St Columba Primary school as a teacher.

Gay currently works as the Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse for the Grampians region hosted at Ballarat Health Services. Her work involves providing support to men and their families in all areas of prostate cancer care. This includes being of point of contact to assist with accessing services both in the hospital and community, providing reliable information about diagnosis and treatment and coordinating the care of men living with prostate cancer within the region.
